Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She joined the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax reform and the budget, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively together with the president Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
